Petal Police Department Hiring Process
Individuals shall pick up and turn in applications at City Hall, 119 West 8th Avenue for employment between 8:00a.m. - 4:30p.m. (Monday-Friday). Applications will be forwarded to the Police Dept via the Human Resources Dept. Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended, prohibits discrimination in hiring, promotion, discharge, pay, fringe benefits, job training, classification, referral, and other aspects of employment, on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, or national origin.
Applicants must show proof of a valid Mississippi driver license and pass NCIC background check before the hiring process begins.

Minimum requirements:
Be a United States citizen
Be at least twenty-one (21) years of age
Possess a valid Mississippi Driver’s License
Have a high school diploma or GED
Successfully complete the minimum training required for certification
Be free of any felony convictions
Be subject to thorough background investigations and personal interviews by Petal Police Department personnel
Demonstrate honesty and integrity, by successfully completing pre-employment polygraph and drug testing
Demonstrate good general medical health as determined by a medical doctor, who is licensed by the Mississippi State Board of Medical Examiners, and physical performance testing
Be declared in satisfactory psychological and emotional health
Pay & Benefits:
$44,000 -$48,500 annually, based on experience

Have good typing ability

Pay & Benefits:
$36,000 - $40,000 annually, based on experience
