A Letter from the Chief

It is my distinct pleasure to serve as your Fire Chief of “Our” department. I am committed to maintaining our vision, mission, and goals and to continue to be the motivating force for moving the department forward. I truly believe Petal Fire Department is dedicated to making the community a safe place to live, work, and visit. As the leader of the department, I will be fair, honest, and consistent. I am committed to accountability at all levels. I am determined to have mutual respect and honest communications with the community. A higher standard of public image and relations will be established and maintained.

The mission of Petal Fire Department is to provide all occupants of the city, a well maintained, trained, and force to provide fire suppression, fire prevention and emergency rescue activities to reduce the loss of life and property. The Petal Fire department is committed to the safety of the city’s citizens and visitors and developing relationships worthy of the respect of the community The Petal Fire Department is an all-risk, all-hazards fire department. "Service Before Self." The fire department is comprised of 38 personnel (3 Administration, 2 Fire Life Safety Educators, and 33 firefighters) who are diverse in their training from high angle rope rescue, hazardous material incidents, confined space, swift water rescue and overland search and rescue to name a few. All personnel are trained in fire suppression techniques, technical rescues, and emergency medical incidents. The City of Petal Fire Department currently utilizes 3 fire stations, which are fully operational 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We have in our fleet 3 Engine companies, 1 Ladder company and a Battalion Unit.

The Department will, to the best of its ability prepare for, respond and mitigate emergency incidents caused by fire, entrapment, medical emergency, or other life-threatening situations.
